Update On Why Miro Has Been Absent From AEW Television

Earlier this year, it was reported that Miro had signed a four-year contract extension keeping him with AEW until 2026. Nevertheless, he has been absent from television since September and only wrestled four times in 2022, and while he did have an injury last year, it wasn’t thought injuries were behind his absence. And now, in a new update by Fightful Select, his absence has been explained, with them reporting that AEW doesn’t have any creative for the former WWE star right now.

After Miro’s absences, many fans have wondered where he’s been. After inquiring with All Elite Wrestling sources, it was reiterated to us that Miro is and has been completely healthy, and wanting to actively compete. However, we’re told that creative simply hasn’t been presented for him.

The start of Miro’s AEW run could have been better due to him being aligned with Kip Sabian and having a gamer gimmick. However, everyone involved seemingly realized this wasn’t working, and Miro would evolve into “The Redeemer” and “God’s Favorite Champion,” becoming one of the best characters and performers in the promotion. While he is missed on television, presumably, AEW believes he should have a big storyline rather than become a regular on Dark. And with so much time left on his contract, they certainly have time to refactor him in, so he can still contribute significantly to the product.
