Ric Flair Is “Begging” To Do His Last Match Again

Legendary wrestler Ric Flair wrestled what was promoted as his last ever match on July 31st, 2022, when he tagged with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo against past rivals Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett. And while the bout itself isn’t going to make any match of the year lists, it was a spectacle and financial success, with 6,800 fans paying $450,000 to attend with an additional 30,000 buys via FITE and In Demand.

Now though, Flair had said during the To Be The Man podcast that he is begging to do the match again, saying that if he could do it again, he would drink water beforehand and noting he’d put in a lot of training with Lethal and things had to be left out given the circumstances.

I’m begging to do it again. I’m begging because I’ve told 100 people, “How do I forget to drink water all day long?” That’s all that happened to me. You saw me. I drank five beers right after.

I can think of a lot of things I’ve screwed up and matches and, you know, things you would change, I just know that could’ve been golden. You know, I just happened to be dehydrated. I don’t know how I could’ve made that mistake because you know how much work I put in with Lethal. We had everything figured out, I mean, and we had so much more to do. God, it would have been great.

It’s got to be expected that the 73-year-old will get further offers to wrestle due to his legendary status. However, considering how frail he looked at times during his last match and the fact that he passed out from dehydration at the finish, it seems like a disaster waiting to happen for him to wrestle again. That said, very few in wrestling ever truly retire, and had his retirement not been so recent, perhaps Flair would have wrestled in Puerto Rico when asked rather than just taking some punches and a headbutt.
