This past Friday night, Edge wrestled the final match on his current contract when he defeated Sheamus and will now be a free agent come the end of September. And while many suspected Edge would simply sign a new part-time deal with WWE, PWTorch.com has now reported that WWE has actually declined his contract requests, and therefore, it’s now believed he could be heading to Tony Khan’s AEW promotion.
“PWTorch has learned that Copeland presented to WWE what it would take to retain his services, but WWE declined to meet his request. This has sparked a belief within WWE that he is probably headed to AEW and knew at that time what AEW could offer him,”
PWTorch.comFor many fans, it will take Edge, or Adam Copeland, as he will likely be called actually appearing on AEW television, to believe he is AEW-bound. Still, if this report is accurate, then it certainly sounds like a genuine possibility. Especially when you consider his best friend Christian is already All Elite, and it’s known Khan tried to recruit him before he made his WWE return in 2020.
