New Japan’s Satoshi Kojima is one of New Japan’s biggest names, thanks to having worked for the company for most of his 33-year in-ring career. However, it now appears the Japanese star may be set for a spell on the sidelines, having disclosed on X that he had a marble-sized tumor removed from his head last week. Thankfully, this was discovered to be malignant, and Kojima seemed to be in good spirits as he joked he could return to headbutting his opponents.

“Today I had surgery to remove a marble-sized tumor that had been on my forehead for about a year. I checked it out and it seems not to be malignant, so I’m relieved. Now it’s okay to headbutt someone during a match! I’ve hardly ever done it though (bitter smile).”Satoshi Kojima

54-year-old Kojima began wrestling in the early 90s and would go on to make history by being the first wrestler to hold Japan’s most prestigious titles, New Japan’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship and All Japan’s Triple Crown Championship, simultaneously. And while most of his career has been spent in Japan, he has made appearances for multiple American promotions over the years, with MLW being his current stateside home promotion. However, he is likely best known outside of Japan for his matches in AEW, with him having wrestled Jon Moxley at All Out 2021 and CM Punk at Forbidden Door 2023.
