On February 4th, 2021, Gabbi Tuft, who wrestled for WWE between 2008 and 2012 as Tyler Reks on ECW, NXT, and SmackDown, bravely came out as a transgender woman. And now the former pro wrestler has appeared as a guest on a recent Talk Is Jericho to discuss her amazing transformation. Revealing in the process that she doesn’t feel like her wrestling persona even exists anymore, saying it feels like “that guy died.”
“It’s weird. Like, I don’t feel like that guy exists anymore. It’s like, that guy died, you know? I know. I don’t know. Like, the community, we try not to say, like, a death, but honestly, I’m like, I can’t even imagine I was that person one at that time. It’s so crazy. I have really great memories of it. And I’ll show my daughter from time to time, we’ll see old videos. She’s like, ‘Oh, my God, that was you?’”
Tuft surprisingly quit WWE in 2012 shortly after debuting a stripper gimmick alongside then-tag partner Curt Hawkins. At the time, she cited wanting to spend more time at home with her daughter Mia, who had been born the prior year. And since departing WWE, Tuft only competed once on the independent scene, teaming with former partner Hawkins against Kevin Matthews and Lance Hoyt in 2014. Instead, she has been focusing on running her fitness company along with his wife, Priscilla.
