On Wednesday’s Fyter Fest themed edition of Dynamite Taz re-introduced the FTW Heavyweight Championship to the wrestling world. He presented the title he made famous in ECW to Brian Cage, who AEW has confirmed defended the unsanctioned championship on the upcoming pre-taped episode of AEW Dark.
The man challenging for the title was Brian Pillman Jr., who, despite being contracted to Major League Wrestling, is allowed due to the terms of his contract to compete for other companies except for WWE and Impact Wrestling. Pillman Jr. made his AEW Dark last week in a losing effort against Shawn Spears, and it’s likely that since Cage is challenging for Jon Moxley’s AEW Heavyweight Championship the following day, this match will have been a squash.
