43-year-old Paul Burchill last wrestled in 2018 when he completed on the 1000th episode of OVW television. Therefore many assumed he was retired and living an everyday life with his family while working as a firefighter and paramedic. Now though, he is getting set to return to the business, as Brian Asbury from the Developmentally Speaking podcast has announced he will be attending a show in Chillicothe, Ohio, on September 30, signing autographs while also stepping back into the ring.
Hey everybody, it’s Brian Asbury with Developmentally Speaking. I wanted to come on here today to let you all know that on September 30th, I will be returning to Chillicothe, Ohio, but I won’t be coming alone for the first time in 13 years “Ripper” Paul Burchill is making a public appearance right here September 30th in Chillicothe Ohio not only is he making a personal appearance but he will be returning to the ring.
Brian AsburyBurchill began wrestling in his home country of England in 2002 and soon made a name for himself in the Frontier Wrestling Alliance and other European promotions. His size, charisma, and technical ability would end up catching the eye of WWE, and he was signed in 2005 and assigned to OVW. By 2007 he found himself on the main roster working WWE SmackDown/ECW House Show and appeared set for a bright future. However, he would go on to get one of the worst gimmicks in wrestling history when he was re-packaged as a pirate to capitalize on the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise, and sadly another promising career was effectively killed by bad creative.
