Eight months ago, former WWE referee Drake Wuertz, best known by his ring name Drake Younger, announced on Instagram that he was checking into a rehabilitation facility. Precisely why he needed professional help wasn’t disclosed, although he stated he was doing it for his wife and five children and that he needed to be “the best version of me for them.”
However, there is now concern for the death match wrestler after it was reported by Bodyslam.net that he was involved in a parking lot altercation with John Wayne Murdoch on Saturday night prior to a GCW show. Precisely, what the fight was over remains unclear, although Wuertz would take it to Facebook and say, “it had to be handled old school.” Whether this is some type of storyline or legitimate remains unknown, although Murdoch would take to social media himself, calling Wuertz a “meth head” and saying he “throws punches like he is a newborn baby.”
40-year-old Wuertz retired from the ring after signing with WWE in 2014 and looked set to have a long and successful career with the company. Yet, he was fired in 2021 following a series of incidents that saw him generate heat with management. These included missing an NXT taping due to arguing against children wearing masks at a school board meeting, using his WWE email address to organize activities for a conspiracy theory organization, and, most shockingly, walking out of a speech Triple H was giving about Black Lives Matter.
