ECW Original Forced To Miss ECW Tribute Show After Triple H Denied Him Permission

This weekend the man who founded Ring of Honor, Rob Feinstein, would hold an indie show titled “Tribute to the Extreme” featuring stars of ECW’s past. However, it’s been reported by PWInsider.com that WWE was unhappy with the show using what they deem to be intellectual property, and after sending a letter regarding this, they pulled NXT coach and agent D-Von Dudley from appearing on the show. With it noted that the WWE Hall of Famer reached out personally to Triple H so he could still appear alongside his former tag partner Bull Ray, but was still declined.

WWE pulled WWE Hall of Famer and NXT Coach D-Von Dudley from the Battleground Championship Wrestling event over the weekend at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA. D-Von had been slated to appear at the convention preceeding the show and then in Bully Ray (Bubba Ray Dudley) in his match that night against Matt Cardona.

The promotion’s side is that they received a legal letter from WWE this past Thursday upset about BCW promoting a “Tribute to the Extreme” at the show, playing off the ECW intellectual property, which is obviously now owned by WWE. D-Von was then pulled from the show, despite, according to the promotion, personally reaching out to WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque to get the edict reversed, which was not successful.

D-Von would only have been on the show in a non-wrestling capacity, as ten months ago, he revealed he’d had his spine shifted and now has screws and a plate in his back. Therefore even a simple bump could jeopardize his long-term health. Additionally, three years ago, he had to be operated on after suffering a stroke. Thankfully, though, it appears he didn’t suffer any ongoing severe effects from that, and perhaps down the line, WWE will relax their stance concerning ECW tribute shows, as it certainly would be good for D-Von to be able to hang out with his old extreme buddies from the 90s. Especially when the company hardly does anything with the IP.
