Currently, it’s believed Cody Rhodes is weighing up his options, but with WrestleMania 38 being just three weeks away, WWE has chosen an opponent for him if he does sign a contract with them. This was reported by Fightful Select, who say Seth Rollins is set to work with the former AEW star if he signs in time. Seemingly this indicates WWE is looking to place Rhodes on Raw and have him portal a babyface as Rollins is one of the company’s top heels.
Rollins was initially penciled in to face Shane McMahon at WrestleMania. Still, after how the Royal Rumble match was regarded as a flop, any plans involving him were dropped. Nevertheless, it’s hard to imagine WrestleMania without Rollins, and Rhodes would undoubtedly be a suitably high-profile rival for The Drip God. However, for WWE to build a match into something meaningful, Rhodes would likely need to debut next Monday. Which just happens to be taking place in Jacksonville, FL, where Rhodes would be very familiar to many fans in attendance.
