Last year, it was reported that Miro had requested his release from AEW. Still, despite paying him seven figures a year and not using him since Worlds End in December 2023, Tony Khan appeared to be in no rush to grant him his employment freedom. However, two months ago, proving that AEW would let someone depart the company under the right circumstances, an agreement was reached for his release.

And now, after it was reported two weeks ago that he had re-signed with WWE, Big E has confirmed this after pulling a Rusev trading card during a Fanatics Live session at WWE World, saying this is “very topical because he has just announced that he is returning to the squared circle here in World Wrestling Entertainment.

Miro made his name in WWE as Rusev but was released from the company in April 2020, leading to his debut for AEW the following September. Yet, despite some promise, his AEW career was derailed due to injury and, possibly more significantly, his reluctance to adhere to the creative direction written for him, resulting in some fans believing Khan should have let him go far sooner than he did.
