Tony Khan Confirms Whether He’ll Wrestle Following Angle With The Elite

Two weeks ago, Tony Khan officially became an on-screen character during Dynamite after being punched in the gut by Jack Perry and then hit by a Meltzer Driver from The Young Bucks. Soon afterward, it was reported that he had been spotted in a neck brace to help sell his injuries, and this was confirmed when he appeared on television during the NFL Draft, wearing a medical device alongside his father.

Subsequently, speculation commenced that Khan may intend to actually step in the ring, similar to how Vince McMahon began wrestling after being assaulted by Steve Austin in the 90s. However, Khan has now confirmed in an interview with Cincy 360 that won’t be happening, saying, “I’m not the best person to pay those people back.

“AEW is where the best wrestle and we mean that, in this case, I’m not the best person to pay those people back. There’s a lot of things I’m good at behind the scenes, but somebody else is gonna have to avenge what those guys did, not only to me but to Kenny Omega.”

41-year-old Khan, a lifelong wrestling fan, signaled his intent to get involved in the business after filing several trademarks in 2018. This would lead to the official announcement of All Elite Wrestling on January 1, 2019, with their first show, Double or Nothing, taking place five months later, headlined by Chris Jericho against Kenny Omega. Since then, AEW has not just been a competitor but a genuine rival to WWE, a development that has significantly changed the industry for both talents and fans.
