Tony Khan Comments On How Fans Reacted To Jack Perry Following All In’s Backstage Footage Airing

During last week’s episode of Dynamite, AEW would air the footage showing Jack Perry’s backstage altercation with CM Punk at All In. The official reason this was done was because AEW wanted to incorporate it into the storyline between The Young Bucks and FTR, although many suspect it was in retaliation to Punk attempting to make the company look bad during an interview with Ariel Helwani. Yet, regardless of why it was aired, it has gotten fans talking about Perry again, and now, in a new interview, Tony Khan has commented on the man many blame for Punk’s AEW firing.

“It was fascinating to see, after the tape played, the reaction Jack Perry got at New Japan. He got the reaction of a superstar. That is not altogether unexpected and it’s something very interesting, perhaps a side effect of this, Jack Perry already a big star in wrestling, really the way the crowd connected with him in Chicago, that was interesting.”

26-year-old Perry returned to the US wrestling scene at last Friday’s Windy City Riot event, which was put on by New Japan and took place in Punk’s hometown of Chicago. During this, he fully embraced the drama by not only coming to the ring with a “Cry Me A River” jacket but also adopting many of CM Punk’s mannerisms, even going as far as to attempt a GTS. Yet, he was ultimately defeated by his opponent, Shota Umino. However, with Khan in attendance to witness the passionate crowd reaction firsthand, it could soon see him re-introduced to AEW television.
