This past weekend, AEW’s Jon Moxley was in Japan to compete in his sixth Bloodsport event and successfully defeated Josh Barnett following a 22-minute war. However, it wasn’t just the match that fans online were left talking about after the bout, but also the passionate promo Moxley gave where he calls pro wrestling “Just blood and guts. Blood, sweat, and tears. Just bones cracking. Just concussions. Just the will to win. Just the greatest sport in the world.”
For those unaware, Bloodsport is an event that was launched by Game Changer Wrestling and features worked shoot matches in an MMA style. The first event was run in 2018 and was actually branded as Matt Riddle’s Bloodsport. Since then, it has been rebranded to Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport and become a highlight of the GCW calendar, with big names like Nic Nemeth, Eddie Kingston, and Minoru Suzuki having participated. Still, the brand became even more notable when WWE allowed Shayna Baszler and Charlie Dempsey to compete at their last US-based event.
