On Friday night, news broke that WWE was releasing talents, with former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, Xia Li, Xyon Quinn, Veer, and Sanga all confirmed as having been let go by the company. However, it has now been reported by Fightful Select that 29-year-old Calvin Bloom, best known under the ring name of Von Wagner, was also cut during this time.
“Unfortunately, there were more WWE releases that took place last week. We’d noted on Select that we’d not verified that all of the releases had been announced, and we’ve heard of another. Longtime NXT talent Von Wagner was released from the company.”
Fightful SelectFor those unaware, Von Wagner is the son of tag team specialist Wayne Bloom, who wrestled for WWE as Beau Beverly in the 1990s and would sign for the company himself in 2019. Initially, it was believed that WWE saw great potential in the 6 ft 5 wrestler, with Vince McMahon apparently seeing him as a future WrestleMania main eventer. Yet, with McMahon gone and Wagner failing to stand out in NXT, that now seems like a long shot.
