Earlier this year, Chris Jericho talked about what it was like to work with Hulk Hogan. Jericho chatted with author Brad Balukjian (“The Six Pack: On The Road in Search of Wrestlemania”) for an episode of “Talk Is Jericho” about working with the wrestling icon when the pair were together in the WWE.

On a new episode of “Talk Is Jericho” that dropped earlier this week, Jericho chatted with “Dark Side Of The Ring” creators Evan Husney and Jason Eisener about their new Vice series, “Who Killed WCW?” Jericho elaborated on his current relationship with Hogan and also revealed what happened when the pair first crossed paths in WCW.

“I love Hulk, and he and I are friends now,” Jericho said. “Back in those days, he wasn’t ever a jerk to me. And we were nobodies. I remember a time I was supposed to lose to Goldberg. They kept wanting me to lose to Goldberg after we got this thing going. And I was like, ‘Of course I’ll lose to Goldberg. But let’s put it on a pay-per-view. Let’s make people pay to see it. It’ll be a squash match, and it’ll be the greatest squash match of all time. He can spear me out of my shoes and it’ll be amazing.”

Jericho continued: “And they kept wanting to do it on TV. And I was like, ‘No. We’ve gone down this road too far.’ I remember I had a meeting with Hulk and Goldberg and Eric (Bischoff) in Long Island. with them saying ‘You have to lose.’ And I was like, ‘But why? Why don’t we just do it on pay-per-view?”

Hogan was open to hearing Jericho’s idea. “Then Hogan said, ‘What do you suggest?’ I said ‘Why don’t we have Bill arrive at the arena when I’m talking my bulls*it, and when I’m walking away, he can spear me in the aisle. The craziest spear of all time. Then we’ll do this pay-per-view match.’ And Hogan was like, ‘Well, if you think it’s gonna work.’ And for some reason we did it, and it worked really well. Afterwards, I was sitting in the dressing room, which was kinda like the Irish peasants on the Titanic — where they’re underneath the deck all kind of crammed into a room.”

Jericho was informed that Hogan wanted to chat with him. “(They said) ‘Hulk wants to talk to you.’ ‘What? Hulk’s coming into our dressing room? Oh no.’ And he came in to our dressing room and he came right over to me, and he said, ‘Brother, that really worked. That was a great job, and you were right’, and he shook my hand.’ I was like, ‘Wow.’ It was a really cool thing for him to do. So I never saw that, ‘It doesn’t work for me, brother,’ Hogan. But there’s a lot of people there who think that was kind of the whole thing the whole time.”
