Before this week’s episode of Raw, Adam Pearce took to X to declare that the red jacket he would wear during the show was in honor of “your friend and mine,” Jim Cornette. Unsurprisingly, this resulted in a great deal of fan backlash, with the podcaster having just been accused of racism yet again after someone in his team used a YouTube thumbnail featuring a Gorilla and Swerve Strickland to promote his podcast. And now Pearce has responded to those upset with him by telling them to “touch grass.”
Despite the controversies and criticisms surrounding him, 62-year-old Cornette continues to hold sway over a dedicated fanbase he calls the “Cult of Cornette.” Still, it seems doubtful he will ever be able to return to mainstream wrestling, having burned more bridges than anyone in the business. However, given his reclusive lifestyle nowadays, he is probably okay with that.
